BOGOR – Cutting straight to the point, Adityawarman Adil, Head of the Bogor City Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), delivered a powerful message to Muhammadiyah Youth on Sunday (December 7, 2025): “Where there’s progress, there’s youth” – a bold call to make young people the driving force behind saving Bogor from the threats of waste and flooding.
The event, themed “The Role of School Education in Building an Environmental Generation of Leaders” and organized by the Bogor City Muhammadiyah Youth Regional Board, took place at SMAIT SMART YBN in Bojong Neros, Curug Village, West Bogor District. It served as a platform for Adityawarman to lay bare a stark reality: “Today, Bogor produces 500 tons of waste every day. If we stay silent, it won’t just be stench and mess – floods will strike again and again, destroying lives and property.”
He emphasized that “green leadership” is not just a fancy term. “In simple terms, it means young people who don’t just talk – but dare to act to make their environment better,” he said in a firm tone that commanded the audience’s full attention.
Adityawarman stressed that change must start with small, personal actions that have a big impact. “Carrying a tumbler isn’t just a trend – it’s a stand against plastic waste that’s killing our planet. If every young person does this, we can reduce thousands of plastic bottles every day,” he added.
Going further, he highlighted waste sorting as a strategic step forward. “By sorting waste, we don’t just reduce piles of trash – we also give it new value through recycling. This isn’t just an effort to reduce environmental damage, but also a move toward a sustainable green economy,” explained the legislator from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
The event concluded with a group photo and the handover of tree seedlings from Adityawarman to the Bogor City Muhammadiyah Youth Regional Board – a symbol that every seed planted today will grow into a tree that protects Bogor tomorrow. His message was clear: youth are the key – without them, environmental progress is nothing but a dream.
